Mumbai Coastal road project to be completed by July 2023

The coastal road project in Mumbai is expected to be completed by July 2023 instead of October 2022, due to COVID-19 delays. However, during the lockdown, construction work was not completely halted. The 10.58km coastal road will connect Nariman Point to Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The twin tunnels of 2.07 km will connect Girgaum Chowpatty and Malabar Hill. Each underground tunnel will have three lanes at a depth of 70 mtr. The cost of the project is Rs 8,429 crore of which Rs 1,300 crore have been spent till date. At present, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has completed 20 per cent of the construction, instead of the expected 30 per cent.
