New Mangalore Port Trust inks 7 MoUs with stakeholders

The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) and some various stakeholders and prospective investors signed seven MoUs worth Rs 1,417 core at the Mangaluru Innovation Conclave held recently. One of the MoUs included construction of a desalination plant by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (MRPL) in the land leased out by NMPT. The Rs 37 crore project envisages to provide potable water to the industry. Another MoU with MRPL provides for laying Rs 73 crore pipeline from the refinery to NMPT for supply of BS-VI grade diesel and petrol.

NMPT signed an MoU with Adani Cementation for setting up of conveyor system, silos, packing plant and other allied facilities to handle cement, fly ash and slag. The Rs 133 crore project caters to the increasing demand for cement in various sectors. The port authorities also signed Rs 100 crore MoU with the Central Warehousing Corporation for development of warehousing facilities and container freight station. NMPT signed an MoU with the Indian Oil Corporation for construction of tank farm/renovation of the oil terminal at a cost of Rs 350 crore. The Dredging Corporation of India signed an MoU with NMPT for the three-year post-monsoon maintenance dredging at the port. An MoU with Ultratech Cement envisages construction of 5,000 tonne cement silo with allied structures and equipment. Similarly, UltraTech Cement Limited signed an MoU for the construction of 5000 MT capacity cement Silo with allied structures and equipment at the cost of Rs 13 crore.
