Pune Municipal Corp to contribute Rs 733 crore for Pune Metro

The Pune Municipal Corporation’s contribution for the proposed Swargate-Katraj Metro extension project has increased to Rs 733 crore. The 5.4 km long extension will cost around Rs 4,020 crore. The proposal will be sent to the State Government and then to the Centre for final approval. The civic body’s contribution to the Metro has increased to 15 per cent.  The Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the revised funding pattern. The MahaMetro has prepared the detailed project report (DPR) of the route. The entire stretch will be underground with three stations– Market Yard, Saibabanagar and Katraj. The project has been considered an extension of the existing route. The MahaMetro is already constructing a Metro line from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate, of which the Shivajinagar to Swargate stretch is underground.
