RLDA to redevelop 5 railway stations in Bihar

The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) will redevelop five railway stations in the State of Bihar under East Central Railway Zone. The stations that will be revamped under the public-private partnership (PPP) model as commercial hubs are Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, and Singrauli. They will be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities such as restaurants, food plaza, parking zones with links to station platforms, cafeteria, internet, shopping areas along with medical emergency booth, among others. These five stations will be developed on the pattern of airports.

RLDA, a statutory body under the Ministry of Railway, has taken up redevelopment works of several railway stations across the Indian Railways network. Currently, the authority is working on redevelopment and modernisation of 62 railway stations in a phased manner. In addition, IRSDC has taken up another 61 railway stations for modernisation. The railway stations across the country will be revamped on PPP model as part of the Smart City projects. In Phase-I of the redevelopment project, RLDA has prioritised prominent railway stations such as New Delhi, Dehradun, Tirupati, Puducherry, and Nellore.
