Schwing Stetter India installs 1MW solar power system

Schwing Stetter India takes a solar leap forward with the introduction of a 1MW power system at its Cheyyar manufacturing hub.

Schwing Stetter India has unveiled a 1MW solar power system at its global manufacturing hub in Cheyyar. The inauguration ceremony, graced by V G Sakthikumar, Chairman & Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India, marked a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards carbon neutrality.

This solar initiative epitomises Schwing Stetter’s unwavering commitment to green energy and environmental stewardship. With the capacity to generate a staggering 14 lakh kWh of electricity annually, the solar installation caters to 20 per cent of the facility’s total power requirements. Notably, this move aligns seamlessly with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s ambitious plan to double India’s solar capacity by 2026.

Emphasising Schwing Stetter’s dedication to sustainability, V G Sakthikumar, Chairman & Managing Director, Schwing Stetter India reiterated the company’s ethos, stating, “Our operations are fuelled by a sense of obligation towards the environment and the government’s green energy goals. Schwing has reaffirmed its dedication to sustainability with green initiatives by building a renewable energy infrastructure onsite and by committing to further expand their reliance on green energy to power their operations. Our initiatives are majorly focused on carbon neutrality, energy transition, circularity, and ecofriendly operations.”

This pivotal initiative not only underscores Schwing Stetter’s corporate responsibility but also symbolises a significant stride towards mitigating carbon emissions and fostering a greener future.

In addition to the solar installation, Schwing Stetter India’s proactive approach to sustainability extends to its commendable efforts in afforestation. Last year, in celebration of its 25th anniversary and in a bid to promote carbon neutrality, the company embarked on a massive tree plantation drive, planting an impressive 2,50,000 saplings across the nation.

As the world increasingly embraces renewable energy solutions, initiatives like these reaffirm the pivotal role of businesses in driving positive change towards a more sustainable future.
