Sustainability Goals

Sustainability in the business

Celebrating the World Environment Day with ongoing pandemic, restarting of business and many other measures to be sustainable, few industry leaders have spoken about their ideas regarding the environmental sustainability around their business and how they are going to work on it.

Ravichandran Purushothaman, President Danfoss Industries Pvt Ltd (India Region) says “The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about a wave of transformation that people world-over are grappling with. At the same time, although inadvertently, the lockdown has brought about a remarkable reduction in overall carbon emissions and pollution levels. While the restrictions are being lifted, the industry should be encouraged to step back, reassess and realign its strategies towards uplifting the economy in a sustainable manner. It is no longer rational to delink economic growth from environmental sustainability and caring for the nature, which presses the need for the government and the industry to collaborate on a low-carbon high-growth recovery plan.”

In the coming months, public-private partnerships (PPPs) should play an effective role in setting and achieving targets that re-look at the efficiency of food, infrastructure and industry ecosystems. With the right approach, the myriad of energy efficient technologies available to us can be leveraged effectively to drive profitability and create new avenues for job creation.

On the occasion of ‘World Environment Day’,  and considering Nuvoco’s long term commitment to sustainability and environment care, Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Ltd reports that it has set a new goal in reducing its environmental footprint.

Jayakumar Krishnaswamy, Managing Director, Nuvoco Vistas Corp. Ltd. says, “Building a sustainable world is an integral part of Nuvoco’s vision. This year’s theme for World Environment Day is ‘Celebrating Biodiversity’, which emphasizes the need for nurturing plant and animal life in order to ensure natural sustainability of all life forms. Conserving and replenishing natural resources is an important step towards this goal, and Nuvoco has been steadily making progress through various responsible practices. Our sustainability goal is to reduce waste generation, and overall water and energy consumption by 5 per cent over the previous year’s baseline. Our product portfolio, too, reflects this development; for example, our ‘Concreto Green’ product launched last year is a result of one such effort. It consumes 25 per cent less water but increases the strength of concrete up to 70 per cent; making it one of the best performing products in the areas where water scarcity is a perpetual issue. We are ensuring that we make a net positive contribution to nature by minimizing our environmental footprint while maximizing the value for all our stakeholders.”
