The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will commence reconstruction of the Himalaya Bridge at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, from January 2021. The Bridges Department of the civic body had prepared three plans for the new model of the bridge and submitted them to the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC). The estimated cost of the project would be between Rs 6.40 crore and Rs 7 crore. The new bridge will be made of steel and 30 ft long and 9 m wide. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
