Yotta Infra to invest Rs 900 cr on Edge datacentre network

Yotta Infrastructure of the Hiranandani Group, will invest Rs 900 crore over three-four years to set up 100 Edge datacentres. The company will initially start with eight to 10 cities with each facility costing about Rs 8 to 10 crore for basic infrastructure. In Phase-I, the company is looking at 25 small cities like Nagpur, Coimbatore, Ranchi, Jaipur and Jaipur.

The firm has tier-IV data centre parks in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Chennai. The company has created two models. In the first model, it will set up an edge datacentre in an existing building. According to reports, the second model will be a greenfield one in the form of a container. Unlike the hyperscale datacentres, which house thousands of racks, Edge datacentres house just about 10-20 racks – all in a space of about 4,000 sq ft.
