Uttarakhand Hydropower Tunnel Collapse

A tunnel under construction at the Vishnugad–Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, collapsed following a sudden influx of water and debris.
At least 7 workers lost their lives, while several others were rescued after an extensive operation involving the NDRF, SDRF, ITBP and local authorities.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over worker safety and geological risks associated with Himalayan infrastructure projects.
