Bombay Logistics has introduced LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks from Blue Energy Motors into its commercial fleet for freight operations supporting JSW Steel in the Toranagallu region of Karnataka. The deployment represents a step towards adopting alternative-fuel solutions for industrial transportation while targeting greater fleet efficiency and lower emissions.
The LNG trucks are designed for demanding long-haul and industrial applications, combining heavy-duty performance with improved fuel economy. Blue Energy Motors claims the vehicles can deliver fuel-efficiency gains of up to 20 per cent compared with conventional alternatives, potentially helping operators manage transportation costs while reducing the environmental impact of freight movement.
For Bombay Logistics, the deployment is part of its efforts to integrate cleaner propulsion technologies into its industrial logistics operations. The company has highlighted vehicle performance, fuel efficiency and operational support covering handover, route planning and deployment as key factors in the transition to LNG-powered transportation.
The trucks will be used for freight movement associated with JSW Steel’s operations in Toranagallu, placing the vehicles in a high-utilisation industrial environment where range, reliability and operating economics are critical considerations.
Blue Energy Motors has expanded its presence in India’s commercial vehicle segment with more than 1,400 LNG trucks operating across major freight corridors. According to the company, its fleet has collectively covered more than 100 million green km and contributed to avoiding over 30,000 ton of COâ‚‚ emissions.
The Bombay Logistics deployment adds another industrial application to the company’s growing LNG vehicle base and reflects the wider movement among freight operators towards alternative fuels for heavy-duty transportation. As logistics companies increasingly focus on operating efficiency and emissions reduction, LNG is emerging as one of the options being evaluated for long-distance commercial freight applications.
