The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has partnered with Cityflo to introduce dedicated feeder bus services for Mumbai Metro Line 3, marking a key step toward strengthening first- and last-mile connectivity across the city. The initiative, launched alongside the third phase of Metro Line 3, aims to enhance commuter convenience and drive higher metro adoption by offering an integrated, seamless urban travel experience.
India’s metro networks have witnessed rapid growth in recent years—expanding from just 248 km across five cities in 2014 to over 1,000 km across 23 cities today. In Mumbai alone, the elevated Metro Lines 2A and 7 have already recorded over 200 million passenger journeys in three years, with daily ridership surpassing 300,000. The introduction of feeder services is expected to further boost ridership by addressing the crucial last-mile gap that often deters potential commuters.
Under the MMRC–Cityflo partnership, feeder services will operate from high-demand metro stations including Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Worli, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). Buses will run at a frequency of every 10 minutes during peak hours, ensuring minimal waiting time for passengers. Integrated ticketing options will be available through both the Cityflo app and the Metro Connect 3 app, with plans for deeper digital integration to enable commuters to book feeder services directly within either platform.
Introductory fares are set at Rs 29 per single ride, while a monthly pass priced at Rs 499 will cater to daily users—encouraging regular metro travel and easing the transition from private to public modes of transport.
Commenting on the initiative, R Ramana, Director (Planning & Real Estate Development / NFBR), MMRC, said:
“With Metro Line 3, Mumbai is entering a transformative phase in its mobility journey. However, the true success of the metro system will depend on how easily people can access it from their homes to workplaces and back. Through our feeder networks, we are solving this, by ensuring that commuters benefit from a reliable and convenient extension of their metro journey.”
Jerin Venad, CEO, Cityflo, added:
“We’re excited to partner with MMRC to bring feeder buses to the metro network. This is a natural extension of our mission to make urban commutes frictionless, whether through our direct bus network or by integrating with public transit systems to provide a seamless experience for everyone. Our goal has always been to facilitate a shift from private cars to mass transit, and we’re confident this service will become a catalyst for millions of commuters to embrace a more sustainable way to commute.”
The MMRC–Cityflo collaboration represents a significant milestone in Mumbai’s evolving mobility ecosystem—one that seeks to unify metro and road-based transport under a technology-driven framework. By bridging the last-mile gap, the initiative not only enhances commuter convenience but also encourages a long-term modal shift away from private vehicles, supporting the city’s broader goals of reducing congestion and advancing sustainable urban mobility.
