MANN+HUMMEL launches Global Technology & Innovation Center in Karnataka, announces expansion plans in Pune

MANN+HUMMEL has inaugurated a new Global Technology & Innovation Center in Tumkur, Karnataka, strengthening India’s position as a strategic hub for the company’s engineering, research, and advanced filtration technology operations.

Positioned as the company’s largest development facility outside Germany, the new center has been established to drive global product innovation through integrated research laboratories, advanced testing infrastructure, digital engineering capabilities, and data analytics. The facility will support the development of next-generation filtration technologies across mobility, industrial applications, and clean air and water solutions.

The company stated that the center will function as a global innovation engine aimed at accelerating product development cycles and enabling closer collaboration with customers worldwide by leveraging India’s growing engineering and R&D ecosystem.

Speaking on the development, Hasmeet Kaur, President Transportation Division, MANN+HUMMEL Group, said, “The new Global Technology & Innovation Center in India marks a significant milestone in MANN+HUMMEL’s global innovation journey. India stands at the forefront of engineering talent and technological advancement, making it a natural choice for our largest development hub outside Germany. This center will not only accelerate our innovation capabilities but also enable us to deliver scalable, sustainable filtration solutions to customers worldwide. It reflects our long-term commitment to shaping a cleaner and healthier future through technology.”

Sudeesh Karimbingal, Managing Director, MANN+HUMMEL India, added, “The new facility in Tumkur is a testament to India’s growing role as a strategic growth and engineering powerhouse for MANN+HUMMEL globally. For over 20 years, our Indian engineering team has been deeply embedded in our global product development. This center transitions India from a support hub to a strategic engineering powerhouse, driving innovation that meets both local and global market needs.”

Aligned with the company’s sustainability-driven strategy, the Tumkur facility will focus on energy-efficient filtration systems, lifecycle emission reduction, and circular product development using recycled materials and environmentally responsible designs. The center will also contribute towards addressing challenges linked to industrial emissions, air quality improvement, water purification, and access to clean water solutions.

Alongside the inauguration, MANN+HUMMEL also announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Pune to strengthen its footprint in India’s western industrial corridor. The proposed unit will cater to segments including passenger vehicles, heavy-duty mobility, industrial applications, and manufacturing through an integrated production setup for advanced filtration products.

The combined investment across the Tumkur innovation center and the upcoming Pune facility is expected to exceed ₹100 crore. The company currently employs nearly 1,250 people in India and expects to create an additional 300 to 400 jobs over the next year as part of its expansion strategy.

With existing manufacturing operations in Tumkur and Bawal, along with its innovation center in Bengaluru, the addition of the Pune facility will further strengthen MANN+HUMMEL’s pan-India presence while improving proximity to customers and enhancing delivery efficiency across key markets.
