REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (REC PDCL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Bihar State Power Transmission Company Ltd (BSPTCL) to develop intra-state transmission infrastructure in Bihar through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route.
The collaboration is aimed at building a stronger and technologically advanced transmission network capable of supporting Bihar’s growing electricity requirements and expanding industrial landscape. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing power reliability while preparing the state’s energy infrastructure for future demand growth.
The proposed framework is designed to accelerate transmission project implementation through competitive bidding, ensuring greater transparency and efficiency in project allocation. The move is also expected to encourage increased participation from private sector developers and investors in Bihar’s power infrastructure segment.
Strengthening the transmission network has been identified as a key component of Bihar’s broader industrial development roadmap for 2025–30. Improved transmission capacity and system modernisation are expected to contribute significantly toward ensuring stable and uninterrupted power supply across the state.
Senior officials from REC PDCL, BSPTCL and the Bihar government participated in the MoU signing ceremony, alongside representatives from various energy sector agencies. The agreement is anticipated to support Bihar’s long-term infrastructure expansion plans while reinforcing the state’s efforts to create a resilient and power-secure economy.
