Castrol India Ltd has announced the appointment of Saugata Basuray as its Managing Director for a five-year term, effective 1 June 2026. The decision was approved by the company’s Board of Directors and is subject to shareholder and statutory clearances, according to a regulatory filing.
Basuray is currently serving as Whole-time Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer of the company. With more than two decades of experience at Castrol India, he has played a key role across multiple business functions, including sales, marketing, and operations.
He began his journey with the company in 1999 as a Management Trainee and steadily advanced through several leadership roles. During the early phase of his career, he worked as Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Castrol India and the Regional Vice President of bp.
In 2008, Basuray moved to Castrol’s global headquarters in the United Kingdom, gaining international exposure before returning to India to head sales for the company’s B2B business. He later took charge of the marketing division and went on to lead Castrol Philippines between 2013 and 2017.
Subsequently, he was appointed Managing Director of Castrol’s joint venture operations in Indonesia. Prior to taking over as Interim CEO, Basuray served as Whole-time Director and Head of the company’s B2C business.
The appointment marks another milestone in Basuray’s long-standing association with Castrol India and reflects the company’s focus on leadership continuity and business growth.
