Maharashtra has attracted a significant industrial investment with Aggreko India signing a memorandum of understanding with the state government to establish a global engineering and manufacturing facility in Pune district.
The proposed project, to be developed at Phulgaon, will involve an investment of nearly Rs 400 crore and is expected to create around 1,000 direct jobs over the next decade. Once operational, the facility is set to become Aggreko’s largest engineering and manufacturing centre outside Scotland.
The agreement was formalised in the presence of senior State Government officials, highlighting Maharashtra’s continued push to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for advanced manufacturing and global industrial operations.
The new facility is expected to support the company’s expanding operations in energy and temperature control solutions while enhancing local manufacturing capabilities. Construction activities for the project are likely to commence later this year.
State officials noted that Pune has emerged as a key hub for global capability centres and high-value industrial investments, driven by its skilled workforce, infrastructure ecosystem, and growing technology base.
The Maharashtra Government has assured support for the project through streamlined approvals, registrations, regulatory clearances, and policy-linked incentives aimed at facilitating timely execution.
Industry sources indicated that the development is also expected to create substantial opportunities for local micro, small and medium enterprises by integrating regional suppliers and service providers into Aggreko’s global supply chain network.
The investment further reinforces Maharashtra’s efforts to attract large-scale manufacturing projects and strengthen its industrial and employment landscape.
