Mysuru Set for Major Infrastructure Development Push

Mysuru Set for Major Infrastructure Development Push

Mysuru Set for Major Infrastructure Development Push

Mysuru is set for a major infrastructure upgrade with several projects planned to improve public transport, roads, power distribution and urban development.

A new bus terminal at Bannimantap, estimated at Rs 129 crore, is among the key projects being taken up to strengthen public transport and cater to the city’s growing tourist footfall.

The city is also seeing a Rs 393.85 crore road improvement project covering 46.088 km across 12 major stretches. The white-topping work is aimed at improving road quality and reducing long-term maintenance requirements.

Another major initiative involves the Rs 588.24 crore conversion of 11-kV overhead power lines to underground cables within Mysuru city. The project is expected to reduce maintenance needs and minimise power disruptions caused by damage to overhead lines.

Greater Mysuru Plan

The government is also working on a Greater Mysuru City Corporation proposal by bringing the existing Mysuru City Corporation together with one city municipal council, four town panchayats and eight adjoining gram panchayats.

A preliminary notification has been issued, while a comprehensive development plan is being prepared.

With tourism and visitor numbers rising, the infrastructure projects are expected to strengthen Mysuru’s urban infrastructure and support its long-term growth as a major tourism and economic centre.
