BBMP plans three flyovers in Yelahanka

To cut down the traffic, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has grand plans to construct three flyovers to ensure smooth movement of vehicles towards Kempegowda International Airport and Doddaballapur. BBMP has plans to prevent traffic congestions in Yelahanka for the next 15 years and thus three flyovers will be constructed. The nodal agency has completed the tender process for two of these flyovers and will issue work orders to infrastructure companies. Development work worth Rs 23 crore at Ward No 4 was commenced on June 2020. BBMP has invited bids for two flyovers – one at Yelahanka Police Station and the other at Gangamma Circle near MS Palya.

A detailed project report is being prepared for the flyover between Kempegowda Circle and Kogilu Junction. According to sources, the proposed flyovers will make the ride from areas such as Peenya, Dasarahalli and Hesaraghatta to the Kempegowda International Airport smoother. The flyover to be constructed in front of Yelahanka Police Station will be 820 mtr long with four lanes and bi-directional. It will help commuters avoid three traffic signals either to go towards Chikkaballapur or Doddaballapur. The flyover is estimated to see an investment of around Rs 54.23 crore. The proposed flyover at MS Palya, to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 39.04 crore, will be a three-pronged one. The proposed flyover between Kempegowda Circle and Kogilu Junction will decongest traffic during peak hours.
