HAL commissions 8.4 MW wind plant

HAL inaugurated an 8.4 MW wind energy power plant in Karnataka.

Contributing towards green energy and to achieve self-reliance in power, R Madhavan, Chairman and Managing Director, HAL, inaugurated an 8.4 MW wind energy power plant near Ilkal in Bagalkot district in Karnataka. The power generated used for captive energy consumption at Bengaluru. The plant comprising four wind turbines installed in collaboration with Suzlon Energy Ltd has potential to generate around 260 lakh units per annum with an estimated annual savings of around Rs 18 crore. This is the second wind energy project that HAL has set up at a cost of Rs 59 crore. HAL already owns 6.3MW wind energy power plant near Davangere. A 3.5 MW solar power plant is also operational at HAL Airport in Bengaluru.
