Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has secured a Rs 524.17 crore contract from NHPC Ltd for civil, hydro-mechanical and associated works at the Salal Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir.
The project involves rehabilitation and commissioning of the undersluices of the concrete dam to restore their full operational functionality. The works are expected to strengthen sediment management, improve the operating efficiency of the hydropower facility and enhance its long-term safety and reliability.
The contract is scheduled for execution over a period of 27 months from the date of award. The confirmed order will be added to HCC’s active order book, providing further visibility to its construction and infrastructure business.
The Salal project also builds on HCC’s longstanding presence in Jammu & Kashmir. The company was involved in the construction of the 690 MW Salal Hydroelectric Project, commissioned in 1987, and has subsequently executed major hydropower projects including Uri-II, Kishanganga, Nimoo Bazgo and Chutak. Together, these projects represent 1,352 MW of installed capacity.
HCC has also contributed to the region’s transportation infrastructure, including the construction of the Anji Khad cable-stayed railway bridge and nearly 32 km of tunnels for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link.
The latest order further strengthens HCC’s portfolio in hydropower and critical infrastructure, while adding to its near-term project pipeline. The Rs 524.17 crore contract is equivalent to around 51.6 per cent of the company’s average quarterly revenue of Rs 1,015.98 crore, indicating a meaningful addition to its current execution pipeline.
