The Maharashtra Government has initiated plans to develop the Eastern Vidarbha Industrial Corridor, a major industrial infrastructure project that will involve the acquisition of approximately 10,000–15,000 hectares of land across the region. A high-level committee has been formed to steer the planning and execution of the corridor, with senior government officials entrusted with overseeing land identification, project coordination and implementation.
The proposed corridor will extend across Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts. Rather than creating a single contiguous industrial zone, the project will adopt a cluster-based development model, linking multiple industrial hubs through an integrated network of roads, rail connectivity and logistics infrastructure.
Designed to strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem, the corridor is expected to attract fresh investments, support the expansion of manufacturing activities and improve regional connectivity. The initiative is also projected to create significant employment opportunities while providing a foundation for future industrial projects, reinforcing eastern Maharashtra’s role as an emerging manufacturing and logistics hub.
