India is the world's second largest producer of steel

India’s steel production has reached a historic level of 120 million tonnes per year making it the world’s second largest producer of steel, the Government informed the Rajya Sabha. India has become the world’s second largest producer of steel which has reached a level of 120 million tonnes per year. As per reports, steel minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia said that India intends to double its steel production to 300 million tonnes per annum by 2030. The minister has stated that in 2013-14, India had only close to about 60 million tonnes per annum production of steel now it is at 120 million tonnes. In terms of capacity, India had only 75 million tonnes, currently it is at 154 million tonnes. He has stated that India has numerous infrastructural projects and the country continues on the trajectory of growing capacity of steel production.
