Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority is progressing steadily on the Atal Setu–Mumbai–Pune Expressway connector, a 7.35 km, six-lane elevated corridor designed to facilitate seamless and signal-free travel between Mumbai and Pune. The project is positioned as a critical link to strengthen regional connectivity while easing pressure on existing transport routes.
Execution has gathered pace across the alignment, with foundation works completed at a majority of locations. Pier construction has also advanced substantially, with a significant number already integrated with pier caps, forming the core structural framework of the elevated stretch. Superstructure development is moving forward with the installation of a large portion of precast girders, indicating steady progress toward completion.
Complementary infrastructure works are being carried out simultaneously to enhance last-mile connectivity. In the Palaspe area of Panvel, road widening initiatives, including slip roads and service lanes, are underway to improve traffic movement and reduce congestion at key junctions.
The corridor is planned to establish a direct connection between Atal Setu and the Mumbai–Pune Expressway through Chirle and Palaspe. It will also integrate with the JNPT highway and improve access to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, strengthening multimodal connectivity within the region.
With a targeted completion timeline of February 2027, the project is expected to significantly cut travel time, enhance commuter efficiency, and support the broader infrastructure expansion of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
