BHEL secures Rs 21,000 crore EPC order for Meja Thermal Power expansion

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract valued at over Rs 21,000 crore for the 3×800 MW Meja Supercritical Thermal Power Project (Stage-II) in Uttar Pradesh. The order has been awarded by Meja Urja Nigam Pvt Ltd (MUNPL), a joint venture between NTPC Ltd and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the supercritical thermal power project in Prayagraj district. Awarded through an international competitive bidding process, the project is scheduled for completion within 70 months.

The contract represents a significant addition to BHEL’s power sector order book and is expected to support capacity expansion through high-efficiency supercritical power generation technology in Uttar Pradesh.
