Lucknow Metro extension to Rashtra Prerna Sthal moves ahead

Plans to extend the Lucknow Metro network to Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Basant Kunj have moved a step forward after the proposal was reviewed by senior government officials. The proposed extension will add approximately 3.3 km to the planned Phase 2 corridor and is estimated to require an investment of around Rs 750 crore. The existing Phase 2 project is designed to connect Charbagh with Dubagga Chauraha, enhancing urban mobility across several parts of the city.

The proposed expansion was recommended by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) to improve access to Rashtra Prerna Sthal, which has emerged as an important public and tourist destination. Authorities are now evaluating the project’s technical feasibility, financial viability and implementation framework before taking a final decision. If approved, the extension is expected to strengthen Lucknow’s metro network, improve last-mile connectivity and support the city’s long-term urban transport and infrastructure development plans.
